An investment worth nearly HUF 1 billion, aimed at strengthening the security of electricity supply in the region, was officially completed in Miskolc on March 20, 2026. The project was carried out by Forest-Vill Zrt. on behalf of MVM Émász Áramhálózati Kft. The development not only expands the region’s electricity infrastructure with a new network element, but also contributes in the long term to meeting the growing industrial and residential electricity demand.
On March 20, 2026, at a press event organized by the MVM Group, the 132/22 kV substation constructed by Forest-Vill in the vicinity of Miskolc was ceremonially inaugurated. The facility had already been successfully connected to the grid in March 2025, while construction was fully completed by March 2026. The substation, implemented with support from the European Union and the Hungarian Government through the RRF funding instrument for capacity-expanding network development projects, has a total value of HUF 943 million. It significantly contributes to strengthening electricity supply in Miskolc and its surrounding area, as well as serving new customer demands. The project plays an important role in increasing network flexibility and laying the technical foundations for future developments.
The infrastructure expansion was carried out by Forest Vill Zrt., which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, providing full-scale architectural and electrical construction services, including the complete development of the substation infrastructure. During the works, two new transmission line bays, one busbar disconnector, and two transformer bays were established. In addition, the technological systems essential for the reliable operation of the substation were also implemented. All elements of the investment were completed under Integrated technical coordination by a single contractor.
“The Bogáncs Road substation is a good example of how the electricity network can be adapted to increasing load demands and today’s security of supply requirements. We are proud to have completed the entire project on schedule and to a high technical standard. Developments like this play a fundamental role in expanding network capacities and modernizing the electricity system,” said Imre Lábodi, Technical Director of the Substation Division at Forest Vill Zrt.
The complex, multi-phase development is part of the MVM Group’s network modernization program, which aims to enhance supply reliability, expand network capacity, and enable the connection of new renewable energy generation units using state-of-the-art technologies.
The newly inaugurated modern substation enables the supply of the growing electricity needs of the region – particularly in the dynamically developing Szirma district of Miskolc – and plays a key role in strengthening the region’s security of supply by ensuring more stable energy provision, reduced network load, and long-term capacity expansion.
